An Afternoon with Henry David Thoreau

September 7, 2017

Henry Thoreau was an obsessive observer of Nature. His journal is filled with the ebb and flow of the seasons; temperatures, when the ponds and rivers iced over, storms, bird migration and the Fall foliage all came under his watchful eye.

Return to 1860 as Henry Thoreau (portrayed by historian Richard Smith) makes an appearance at Mount Auburn! Mr. Thoreau will read selections from his essay, “Autumnal Tints” and then take questions in a lively and entertaining discussion. This Living History program is appropriate for all ages.
