Candle Lighting Service

Join us (virtually) on the Winter Solstice for our most important annual tradition, the Candle Lighting Service. For the first time in 28 years, we will not be together in person at the Cemetery. Instead, we will gather online to bring light and love into the darkness.

OVERVIEW

In collaboration with Boston-based MASARY Studios, we are excited to announce a thoughtfully reimagined Virtual Candle Lighting Service. As a media arts studio, MASARY will enrich our annual event with new reflection and remembrance opportunities.

This year’s virtual service will include the hallmarks of our traditional event: words of comfort, musical interludes, and moments of reflection. Candles lit in memory of all those we have loved and lost, a central element to the Service, will also be present this year. New for this year is a special memorial tribute video, which will be projected on the exterior façade of Bigelow Chapel during the live broadcast.

Yes, it is online – but this is no zoom meeting. This will be a meaningful, shared experience that brightens the path ahead for all who join us.

WAYS TO REMEMBER

Memorial tribute submissions are now closed.

MEMORIAL CONTRIBUTIONS

The Candle Lighting Service is offered as a free event for all in the greater community. If you are able, please consider making a gift in memory of the loved ones who you will join us to remember. Memorial contributions help us to defray the cost of this event and to enhance the beauty of our grounds.
