Greenhouse Construction Update: Summer-Fall 2012 Progress

October 26, 2012

This is the second post in a series on Mount Auburn’s Greenhouse Construction Project. The first post, Greenhouse Construction Update: The Beginning, chronicled the project’s groundbreaking.

The Greenhouse Construction Project has been progressing over the last three months at a rapid clip. The new state-of-the-art greenhouses, designed by William Rawn Associates, will increase our environmental efficiency and fall in line with our commitment to sustainability. By utilizing renewable and recycled materials in the construction, and by employing a geothermal energy system, solar electric power, and a green roof, the new greenhouses will lower our heating costs by 50 percent. Not only will the new greenhouses improve our energy use, but they will be an enhancement to the Grove Street landscape.

The photos below illustrate our progress since the groundbreaking earlier this summer.

We continue to make great strides in this project each day. Stay tuned for additional updates on the state of the construction.
