Jews Buried in Mount Auburn Cemetery
Join Volunteer Docent Helen Abrams on a walk to visit the famous (Felix Frankfurter, IF Stone, Abraham Maslow) and not so famous Jews buried at Mount Auburn Cemetery. Learn why 19th century and early 20th century Jews chose Mount Auburn instead of a traditional Jewish Cemetery. Since no Cemetery records were kept of religious preference, how are scholars and researchers identifying people of Jewish descent? How does Mount Auburn accommodate Jewish burial practices? This walk will last about one and 1/2 hours. Wear comfortable walking shoes.
