Literary Lunch Lecture: American Industry and American Literature

Literary historian Rob Velella traces the development of American literature as both a complement to and as a resistance to industrialization. With businessmen like Nathan Appleton at the center of a revolution in technology, a revolution in literature impacted authors like Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, both interred at Mount Auburn Cemetery.  Meet at Story Chapel; bring a brown bag lunch.
