Open Position: Data and Business Applications Manager

We are seeking a highly-skilled and motivated Data and Business Applications Manager to lead our efforts in integrating and managing business applications and data solutions. This individual will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless data exchange, efficient workflows, and robust applications management in our primarily Azure cloud-centric environment, which also leverages certain AWS components. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of cloud-based technologies, data management, and application integration. 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Reporting to the Director of IT and supporting all functional teams, the Data and Business Applications Manager will:  

Manage the implementation, integration, and ongoing operation of business applications including CRM, ERP, GIS, and other core, industry-specific business systems. 

Design and implement data integration solutions, including ETL processes, between various business applications and databases. 

Lead the transition and migration of legacy systems to cloud-based solutions, primarily in Azure and AWS. 

Develop and oversee governance policies for data quality and application management as appropriate. 

Work closely with cross-functional teams to identify business requirements and translate them into technical specifications. 

Assist with directing a team of application and data analysts, whether consultants or staff.   

Coordinate with relevant vendors and IT service providers for troubleshooting, updates, and maintaining software lifecycles. 

Oversee application security protocols, ensuring compliance with data protection laws and company policies. 

Produce and maintain documentation for application architecture, integration points, data flows, and configurations. 

Monitor performance and provide regular reports to management on application and data metrics. 

Anticipate in on-call communications (phone, email, text) as urgent or emergent needs arise as needed, including outside of regular business hours.  

Assist with any cemetery business including special meetings, conferences, Friends events and public programs as needed. 

Demonstrate responsible stewardship for the environment when planning and implementing all duties incorporated in job description.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Management, or equivalent experience. 

Minimum of 4-6 years of experience in data and application management, with at least 2 years in a managerial role Experience coordinating with vendors and managing staff is desirable. 

Strong experience with Microsoft 365 and Azure cloud services and at least some familiarity with AWS. 

Proven experience in managing and integrating business applications like CRM, ERP, etc. Exposure to ArcGIS is preferred. 

Experience with data integration and ETL tools. 

Strong knowledge of SQL and database management. 

Familiarity with GIS and Business Records Management concepts is a plus. 

Excellent interpersonal skills. Patient, energetic, creative and flexible. Must be able to act as an effective representative of the Cemetery and the Friends of Mount Auburn. 

Excellent English oral and written communication with ability to bridge the gap between technical and non-technical staff/management. Spanish would be a plus.  

Able to handle sensitive records and personal information appropriately. 

Must be a self-starter with strong initiative and the ability to work independently and see projects through from beginning to end.

Ability to manage and lead cross-functional teams including internal staff as well as consultants. 

Must be able to drive a car and have a driver’s license valid in Massachusetts. 

Excellent organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently; dependable and punctual. 

Must present a good professional image in dress, grooming and personal hygiene per the Cemetery’s dress code policy.
