Event Summary: SOLSTICE: Reflections on Winter Light is an annual event at Mount Auburn Cemetery that includes an outdoor journey through large-scale light and sound artworks, and an indoor experience with live music and candle lighting. Guests are invited to walk through the light-filled landscape and explore the Winter Solstice atmosphere, and to reflect on moments of change as the year ends and a new cycle begins. Experiences may include connecting to a landscape of exceptional beauty, considering an intention for the new year, or commemorating the memory of a loved one. Position Title: SOLSTICE Daily Event Set-Up Staff

Position Type: Seasonal/Temporary ($25/hr)

Reports to: Public Events Assistant

Position Summary: The temporary Daily Event Set-Up team supports Mount Auburn’s signature annual event, SOLSTICE: Reflections on Winter Light (Dec 9-21 2023). The Daily Event Set-Up team reports to the Public Events Assistant, who will manage and monitor all event set-up and assign specific tasks as needed. Mandatory working dates: Dec 6, Dec 9-10, 12-13, 15-17, 19-21. Shifts will likely be 12:30-3:30pm each day, but may vary contingent on the day and other ancillary factors.*

Responsibilities may include (depending on assignment):

Setting up Event Staff trailer

Bringing in coolers, ice, food, water, utensils, napkins, etc.

Candle preparation

Cleaning wax out of glass votives (if necessary), tossing old tea lights, moving and setting up small boxes of candles for the evening event

Lantern preparation

Switching out charging lanterns and bringing charged lanterns to staff station

Parking area preparation

Placing road barricades in assigned locations

Double checking parking sign placement and adjusting as necessary

Event area preparation

Double checking event area sign placement and adjusting as necessary

Preparing Community Message Board area

Checking/replacing inventory

Setting up space as necessary

Sign off bonus: Full amount to be paid out to candidate at the completion of the SOLSTICE event. Candidates must work each SOLSTICE shift assigned per schedule. Candidates will only receive sign off bonus at the completion of SOLSTICE event on December 21^st.
