In 1912 the Stone estate, located immediately to the south of Willow Pond, was acquired. This parcel lies at the corner of Coolidge Avenue and Grove Street. One of the motives of the purchase was to secure street protection, and it was also assumed that as the parkway extended up the banks of the Charles River, the principal carriage entrance to the Cemetery would be on the purchased land. The Stone Estate was developed in the 1920s and 30s along with the Coolidge Lot.
