Support for Puerto Rico

October 4, 2017

Update 10/28: Members of our horticulture team have set up a GoFundMe site to collect money to go directly to our employees with homes in Puerto Rico.  Please visit the Fundraiser page for more info.

10/4: Puerto Rico has been devastated by two back-to-back hurricanes, and the families of many of our employees have been hit hard.  We have been in discussions with our  employees to determine how we can most effectively provide support, and as a start we have decided to make a donation of $5,000 from the Cemetery to the “Massachusetts United for Puerto Rico Fund.”  The creation of this fund was recently announced by Boston Mayor Marty Walsh, in partnership with The Boston Foundation, The Latino Legacy Fund and The Alliance for Puerto Rico.

As per their press release, “The money gathered will be distributed for relief and reconstruction of the island of Puerto Rico and to respond to the substantial migration of Puerto Ricans who will arrive in Boston and throughout the Commonwealth in the months ahead. Up to one-third will be immediately distributed for relief efforts and two-thirds will be deployed over the next two years for reconstruction and economic recovery projects in Puerto Rico and to support settlement efforts in the Commonwealth.”

If you would like to make your own donation, below is the link to The Boston Foundation website, which includes a donation form as you scroll down:
